Virtual Power Plant LLC (VPPlant) works in the field of energy management and development of IT systems for the optimization of energy consumed in buildings. The company has developed its own energy management technology (Enabler DSR) for heat, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), which adjusts the HVAC controls to building’s thermal characteristics, weather conditions, occupancy and other parameters.
The main goal of VPPlant is to launch a fully functional virtual power plant in Poland. To this end, the company develops services and an IT system which aggregates the potential to shift energy consumption between groups of buildings and share this potential with energy companies in the form of ‘negawatts” (energy which was consciously saved) within the Demand Side Response programme (DSR).
By implementing its services, VPPlant takes control over existing building automation systems (BMS) and introduces optimal control algorithms, resulting in savings of up to 25% on electricity and heat. VPPlant technology is unique in that it can be used on any commercial BMS system as well as in facilities which do not use BMS software. VPPlant specializes in optimization of such facilities as cinemas, large-scale shopping malls and sports halls. Currently, the company is working on the development of technology and its adaptation to swimming pools (OHT project) and office buildings (oBEMS project).
VPPlant is the first project co-funded by the National Centre for Research and Development from the BRIdge Alfa instrument.
VPPlant is a member of the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Electronics and Telecommunications.
