During VIII Investment Forum conference held on 7-8th of September president of VPPlant presented the idea of a Virtual Power Plant and negawatts. Forum in Tarnow is an event accompanying the Economic Forum in Krynica.
– I’m not an advocate or opponent of producing energy from coal or renewable sources. Today, each component has its own advantages and disadvantages. I am in favor of saving. „Saving is the ability to avoid unnecessary expenses,” these words of Seneca the Younger perfectly reflect the direction of trends in energy business – said the president VPPlant.
He pointed out that there are huge potential savings following the application of virtual power plant in buildings such as modern swimming pools, sports halls and entertainment halls, which annually consume electricity and heat worth over 0,5 billion PLN.
In the presentation entitled „New Energy – how the „savings” become a new commodity” the initiator of the first Polish virtual power plant defined negawatts as megawatts with a negative sign generated by virtual power plants that find their application in intervention or everyday optimization.
According to the president of VPPlant, especially attractive are the negawatts generated everyday and that are result of:
- Managing (controlling) energy reception from distribution networks
- Knowledge about current and historical profile, as well as, forecast of future demand for media,
- Analysis of capability to shift energy consumption.
