A conference was held on 4th of July in Ministry of Energy “Power market – consultations for functional solutions”, during which the ministry presented a draft of functional solutions for the power market in Poland. Its implementation may change the current energy market from single product market to two product market. Everyone can provide comments and suggestions to the project until July 18th.
– In order to ensure the continuity and stability of energy supply to all consumers in Poland in the long term, we plan to introduce power market. Its key task will be to create incentives to make investment and modernisation decisions – said the Minister of Energy Krzysztof Tchórzewski. The Minister pointed out that the energy market at the moment is disturbed by systems supporting renewable energy sources. This poses difficulties for conventional power plants which determine the safe operation of the National Power System – he added. He also stressed that keeping the current model of energy market may cause deeper problems with power sufficiency, which in turn could lead to relying on import of energy from abroad.
